Gion Festival is a month-long celebration held in Kyoto from July 1st to 31st. The highlights are the Yamahoko Processions on July 17th and 24th, featuring 34 yamahoko floats. You can see the floats during the construction period from July 10th-14th and 18th-21st. The evening processions offer a beautiful atmosphere with lanterns, music, and traditional performances. The main highlight is the procession of the yamahoko floats, showcasing their elaborate decorations and cultural significance. The pre-festival and post-festival processions take place on July 17th and 24th respectively. These events are part of the ancient tradition of welcoming and sending off divine spirits. It is a magnificent festival that represents Kyoto’s rich cultural heritage.
